Arrgh! Something has gone terribly wrong with my blog’s configuration. My old entries have disappeared. They are still there, just not where they used to be. So I’ve set up a new blog and I’ll have to port over the old entries when I get a chance.
I’ve taken a hiatus from writing here while I’m dealing with some issues in my personal life. And now I’m ready to tentatively resurface. I’m going to be playing some shows with my brother’s band Sugarland, starting this week. I’m joining them for four shows in Florida supporting Brad Paisley on a big CMT sponsored tour. I’m interested in getting a glimpse of their world on the road. And I’m excited about getting to bet out and play some shows.
Last week I sat in for one song with Matthew Kahler at Eddies Attic during the taping of a TV show for Turner South. I’ll have to wait until the show airs in December to see if I make the final edit. In my studio, I finished recording keyboard overdubs for an Atlanta based band, The Drexlers. Tomorrow I’m recording with one of my favorite songwriters, John Austin. I’ve worked with John a couple of times before, including the infamous (at least among the four people involved) Lazy Bones session, when a blindly inspired night of intoxication and self indulgent empowerment led to a fury of recording that we were all surprised to discover the next day was pretty damn great. That recording is still my favorite studio moment captured on tape, even if I can’t really remember much past arriving at the studio. Ahh, where have the good times gone? Maybe I should show up tomorrow three sheets to the wind for old times sake.
